چکیده

The paper discusses a new approach to thermodynamic modelling of transport coefficients in mixtures, responsible for diffusion and thermodiffusion. A theoretical framework (A. Shapiro, J. Non-Equilibrium Thermodyn., 45 (2020), 343) expresses these values terms the quantities, penetration distances emission functions, that may be determined thermodynamically. goal present work is verify scheme by application available experimental data on coefficients. consequence theory parameters fitted applied prediction thermodiffusion accuracies fitting verified work. To do so, simplified case binary explicit formula are derived. results indicate good qualitative and, most cases, quantitative behaviour model, although some problems remain.

Thermodiffusion of charged colloids: single-particle diffusion.

An expression for the single-particle thermal diffusion coefficient of a charged colloidal sphere is derived on the basis of force balance on the Brownian time scale in combination with thermodynamics. It is shown that the single-particle thermal diffusion coefficient is related to the temperature dependence of the reversible work necessary to build the colloidal particle, including the core, t...

Extraction of Thermodynamic Data from Ternary Diffusion Coefficients of Lysozyme Chloride in Water and Aqueous Na2SO4

This paper presents, for ternary lysozyme-Na2SO4-water system, the thermodynamic data extracted from the measured values of four ternary diffusion coefficients and the Onsager reciprocal relations. The calculation for derivatives of solute chemical potentials with respect to solute molar concentrations was made using the method presented in [1]. This method is applicable to systems in which the...

Stochastic Models of Thermodiffusion

New stochastic models of thermodiffusion are constructed and their hydrodynamical limits are studied through a first order Chapman-Enskog expansion. These models differ from earlier ones by taking into account all first order contributions proportional to the temperature gradient and, thus, allow for both positive and negative Soret coefficients, in accordance with observations.

Predicting protein diffusion coefficients.

Diffusion coefficients for proteins in water are predicted. The numerical method developed is general enough to be applied to a wide range of protein surface shapes, from rodlike to globular. Results are presented for lysozyme and tobacco mosaic virus, and they are compared with actual data and with predictions made by less general methods.
